Losing The War Against Drug-Resistant Superbugs

NEWS-US-ANTIBIOTICS We’ve all heard warnings that overuse of antibiotics would breed drug-resistant superbugs, but the day of reckoning seems to be approaching faster than anyone anticipated, and science is at a loss for what to do. The pharmaceutical industry is proving to be little help, having abandoned the field of medicines that cure things for the golden revenue flow of drugs that individuals consume chronically until death (e.g. antidepressants and cholesterol-controlling medicine). Are we headed for a future of human helplessness against bacterial plagues, as in the Middle Ages? Via News Daily:
Welcome to a world where the drugs don’t work. For decades scientists have managed to develop new medicines to stay at least one step ahead of an ever-mutating enemy.
Now, though, we may be running out of road. MRSA alone is estimated to kill around 19,000 people every year in the United States — far more than HIV and AIDS — and a similar number in Europe. Other drug-resistant superbugs are spreading. Cases of often fatal “extensively drug resistant” tuberculosis have mushroomed over the past few years. A new wave of “super superbugs” with a mutation called NDM 1, which first emerged in India, has now turned up all over the world, from Britain to New Zealand.
NDM 1 is what’s growing on the plates that Livermore holds in his gloved hands. “You can’t win against evolution,” says the scientist, who spends his days tracking the emergence of superbugs in a national reference laboratory at Britain’s Health Protection Agency. “All you can seek to do is to stay a jump ahead.”
The fact that the latest superbug — NDM 1 stands for New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase, an enzyme that gives bacteria multidrug resistance — first emerged in India comes as little surprise to many microbiologists. Use of antibiotics is rampant and unregulated in a country with appalling sanitation, high rates of diarrheal disease and overcrowding — ideal conditions for resistance to develop. A week-long course of antibiotics can cost as little as 30 or 40 U.S. cents from one of the thousands of chemist shops that all too often dispense poor advice along with their non-prescription drugs.
Cases of bacteria producing NDM 1 have now been found and documented in two dozen countries from North America to Europe to New Zealand to China to Kenya.
Livermore’s work shows only two or three remaining antibiotics can kill these bugs — one is toxic, so doctors use it only in extreme cases; the second can’t be used to treat urinary tract infections, one of the most common infections caused by E.coli; and the third is not available in many countries and is anyway susceptible to easily developed resistance.

Manama
Abdul Razoul Al Hujairi
When Saudi-led military forces intervened in Bahrain on March 14, it was declared by the Bahraini government and its allies among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates that the unprecedented move was a matter of urgency, needed to “restore order and stability” to the tiny Persian Gulf island kingdom. An arcane GCC defence pact was invoked – the Arabian Peninsula Shield – even though legal experts pointed out that such a provision was only applicable in the event of one of the six Gulf states coming under attack from an external enemy.
Three weeks later, the real nature of the Saudi-led intervention is becoming brutally clear. It can now be seen as an invasion that has led to foreign occupation, lawlessness and several categories of crimes against humanity committed by the very forces purported to bring order. In one sense, the rhetorical justification for invoking the Peninsula Shield force, “to restore order and stability”, is literally correct. The aim was to restore the order and stability of the US-backed Al Khalifa Sunni dictatorship that had sat perilously on top of an oppressed Shia majority for decades. On February 14, the Shia majority (60-70 per cent of the indigenous population) along with disenfranchised Sunni and non-religionists from working class communities rose up in numbers that had never been seen before. Inspired by revolutions in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere in the Arab region, Bahrain’s surging pro-democracy movement rocked the royal rulers.
Bahrain’s indigenous population is estimated at 700,000. Official figures are hard to come by because of the demographic sensitivity of the island’s Sunni ruling elite. So when daily demonstrations of up 200,000-300,000 people were flooding main roads and highways, temporarily disabling government institutions and centres of commerce – and with crowds shouting with increasing boldness “Down, down [King] Hamad” – there was a palpable sense that the regime was facing a serious existential threat. No matter that the protest movement was based on peaceful civil disobedience, the threat to the status quo had reached an unbearable threshold, from the point of view of the regime and its regional and Western backers.
During the four weeks of democracy-euphoria sweeping Bahrain, the Gulf leaders were in constant communication under the aegis of the GCC with its headquarters in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. Even when Bahrain’s rulers ordered a massacre of seven civilians during the first week of protests, the foreign ministers of the GCC defied an international outcry and rallied in staunch support of their ally in Manama. Evidently, the shaky foundations of the House of Al Khalifa were undermining the House of Al Saud and the other sheikhdoms of the Gulf, as witnessed by the beginnings of civil unrest in Saudi’s oil-rich Eastern Province and Oman. If Bahrain were to succumb to democracy, as its people were demanding, the domino effect on the rigid, autocratic power structure across the Gulf would have revolutionary repercussions.
Enter the US and Britain
The threat of democracy in the Gulf is not just a concern to regional despots fighting to maintain their anachronistic privileges over the mass of impoverished people. The threat to autocratic rule in the Gulf goes to the heart of global power domination by Western capitalist governments and their imperialist control of resources and nations. The continued flow of oil from the earth’s largest proven reserves of hydrocarbons, and perhaps more importantly the continued flow of petrodollars from the Gulf puppet states to buy Western treasury bonds and thus prop up debt-crippled economies, are hugely vital interests. Reflecting this dependence on maintaining the autocratic Gulf status quo, the Western governments every year sell billions of dollars worth of weaponry to the dictatorial regimes – weapons that are used mainly to suppress their own people from seeking democracy.
It is worth thinking about that for a while. Western governments, despite lofty rhetoric and platitudes about democracy and human rights, are, under the operation of the capitalist order, in direct conflict with such values. This fundamental contradiction of Western powers can of course be seen right across the Middle East and North Africa, having backed dictators in Egypt, Tunisia, Jordan, Yemen, and until recently Libya under Muammar Gaddafi. But the Gulf’s primary oil riches and its strategic location from which Western powers are able to launch wars of aggression to control the vast energy resources of Central Asia, including the checking of Iran, makes the Persian Gulf region a particularly inviolate vital interest.
Just when the Gulf rulers were reaching their threshold of intolerance towards the democracy movement in Bahrain, the US defence secretary Robert Gates made an unscheduled over night visit to Bahrain’s King Hamad Al Khalifa on March 11-12. Only days before, Britain’s top national security advisor, Sir Peter Ricketts, also had a closed meeting with the Bahraini monarch conveying, it was reported, “a special message” from UK prime minister David Cameron.
Two days after Gates left the Bahraini royal household, on March 14, several thousands-strong armed forces entered Bahrain across the 25-kilometre causeway connecting Saudi Arabia. Two days after that again, on March 16, Bahrain’s rulers declared martial law, beginning with a full military attack on peaceful, pro-democracy protesters camped at the capital’s Pearl Square.
As Middle East analyst Ralph Schoenman points out: “This level of coordination does not result in full-scale invasion 48 hours later by virtual puppet regimes without taking their cues and instruction from their military suppliers and political overseers.”
Pointing to the strategic importance of Bahrain, where the US Fifth Fleet is based, Schoenman added: “Bahrain is the linchpin of imperial control of the entire region and, indeed of global capitalist ‘stability’ through hegemony over oil and seething populations chafing under the heel of feudal, autocratic, semi-colonial and country-selling regimes.”
That the US government must have given a green light to the Saudi-led invasion and ongoing repression in Bahrain is corroborated by Pepe Escobar in Asia Times on April 2. He writes: “Two diplomatic sources at the United Nations independently confirmed that Washington, via secretary of state Hillary Clinton, gave the go-ahead for Saudi Arabia to invade Bahrain and crush the pro-democracy movement in their neighbor in exchange for a ‘yes’ vote by the Arab League for a no-fly zone over Libya – the main rationale that led to United Nations Security Council resolution 1973. [1]
On the morning of March 16, around 5.30am, Bahrain’s mobile telecommunication networks were abruptly shut down. Minutes later, members of the Bahraini Defence Forces and police, supported by Saudi-led GCC troops, fired on civilians with machineguns, tanks and US-made Cobra helicopter gunships.
One of those killed, Jaffar Maioof, from A’ali village, was shot in the back and the legs. Thirty-two-year-old Jaffar had been earlier entreating the armed soldiers who came to crush the pro-democracy movement camped for nearly a month at the Pearl Square.
“We only want peace and democracy,” Jaffar told the soldiers of the Peninsula Shield. “The rights we are fighting for are rights for you too… the right to vote, to work, to have a good house, health and education.”
The soldiers didn’t want to listen, recalled Jaffar’s cousin, Abdulllah, who was with him on that fatal morning.
“They starting firing machineguns from helicopters and tanks,” said Abdullah. “Jaffar was hit in the back and then in the legs. He fell to the ground, but we couldn’t help him because the soldiers were firing at us and they wouldn’t let an ambulance near Jaffar. They shot at the tyres of one ambulance vehicle that tried to reach my cousin.”
The total number of dead civilians since the February 14 uprising in Bahrain is estimated between 25 and 30. It is hard to put an exact figure on the numbers murdered on March 16 and subsequently because of the second violation of international law committed by the Peninsula Shield forces – the immediate targeting of hospitals, medics and the injured in the hospitals.
The prime target was Salmaniya Medical Centre, Bahrain’s biggest public hospital and only a few kilometers from Pearl Square, which had defied ministerial orders in previous weeks to keep its doors open to treat the thousands injured by state violence involving shotguns, high-velocity weapons, tear gas, and rubber bullets fired at point-blank range.
Several of the doctors and nurses at Salmaniya were physically abused when the military attacked the hospital – crimes against humanity on two counts. One senior consultant, Dr Ali Al-Ekri, was arrested while he was conducting surgery. His whereabouts remain unknown. In total, nine doctors and senior nursing staff have been unlawfully detained, accused of being “disloyal” by the regime simply because they adhered to medical ethics to treat dying and injured protesters.
Injured among up to 400 missing
Added to the detained medics, it is estimated by human rights groups that between 200 and 400 injured patients were and continue to be detained by military forces that commandeered Salmaniya and all other public hospitals following the crackdown on March 16.
A spokeswoman for US-based Human Rights Watch said: “We are deeply alarmed by the number of disappeared. And we are even more concerned by the number of people who had been reported missing and who are now being found dead. There seems to be a blatant campaign to silence people by fear,” she added.
In recent days, at least four people have been reported dead after they went missing during the military crackdown. One of them was named as Abdulrazul Al Hujairi (38), from Burri village. He worked as a cleaner at Salmaniya Hospital in Manama and was taken into custody on March 19, according to witnesses. His badly beaten body, including a broken neck, was found the next day near the remote oil fields of Awaali. (His body also bore evidence of deep surgery on his torso – unrelated to the cause of death. See more on this below).
The father of another man Hani Abdulaziz (32), from Belad Al Qadeem, west of Manama, described how he saw his badly injured son being taken away by military police while he was being treated at the International Hospital on March 19. Abdulaziz is believed to have been tortured after he was snatched by a police squad earlier that day. [2] He was taken to a nearby construction site and shot in the legs and arms, said witnesses. The bare concrete room where he is said to have been shot four times at close range bore the evidence of massive blood loss. His father said subsequent inquires with the police failed to produce any information on the whereabouts of his son. His body was eventually released five days later – the same day he was buried. Abdulaziz’s family rejected the official death certificate, which claimed that he was killed in a car accident.
Chemical warfare agents cleared by Washington?
Another violation of international law concerns the alleged use of chemical warfare agents by the Peninsula Shield forces.
One Bahraini senior consultant said: “We are sure that nerve agents are being used against protesters. Hundreds of people have been treated for severe symptoms of nerve poisoning that are quite distinct from exposure to teargas.”
This diagnosis of nerve gas poisoning was verified independently by other senior doctors. One toxicologist said: “I am 100 per cent sure that these people were suffering from nerve gas poisoning. All the symptoms match those of poisoning with organophosphate chemicals that are used as chemical warfare weapons.”
The toxicologist went on to explain that the effects of teargas are relatively mild and shortlived, causing coughing and streaming of eyes for 15-60 minutes. However, the medic noted: “People were being brought into the hospitals suffering from unconsciousness, severe convulsions, spasms in their hands and limbs, memory loss, vomiting, the loss of voluntary muscle function, leading to urination and diarrhea. These symptoms match closely those of poisoning with organophosphate neurotoxins. Furthermore, we treated people with the drug, atropine, which is an antidote specific to this organophosphate toxicology.”
It should be pointed out that the use of such nerve agents is illegal under the 1993 UN Convention against Chemical weapons, to which the Bahrain state and its Western allies are signatories. It should also be noted that the same toxicology and claims of neuro toxins being deployed against civilian protesters have been reported in the US-backed Yemeni regime. That such a grave violation of international law was conducted contemporaneously by two US-backed regimes strongly suggests that these states were given clearance from Washington.
Claims of organ theft
To the catalogue of crimes against humanity committed by the Peninsula Shield forces are allegations that the bodies of victims of state violence are being used to harvest organs. According to pro-democracy sources, as many as 17 bodies of victims released from military custody show signs of deep surgery from the neck to the abdomen. One of those cases is that of Abdulrazul Al Hujairi, mentioned above.
Sayed Ahmed Saeed Shams
Another case is that of 15-year-old Sayed Ahmed Saeed Shams, who was shot dead on the night of March 30.in a drive-by shooting by police, say witnesses. The youth was killed by a single bullet entry above the left eye. When his body was returned to the family for burial the next day, the entire upper body had been subjected to deep surgery – surgery that was unrelated to the cause of death. This and several other cases of inexplicable surgery on victims of state violence are fuelling claims of illegal organ theft, claims that at least deserve an international independent inquiry.
Finally, it should be noted that while the US and other Western powers have mounted robust military and diplomatic intervention in Libya in the name of “humanitarian concern”, no such action has been taken for protection of civilians in Bahrain despite clear evidence of multiple violations under international law and notwithstanding the fact that thousands of US military personnel are stationed only kilometers from the scenes of appalling violence. Despite condemnations from the UN’s Human Rights Commissioner and rights groups such Human Rights Watch and Amnesty, Western governments have conspicuously failed to voice unequivocal concern to halt the ongoing repression against unarmed civilians in Bahrain. This is not just a case of hypocrisy and double standards. It points to Western government complicity at the highest level in crimes against humanity. And the glaring Western contradiction between Bahrain and Libya also shows the much-vaunted Western humanitarian concern in Libya as being nothing but a cynical cover for alterior motives.

Gaddaffi’s African “Mercenary” Story is a Disinformation Ploy by the CIA

Strategic Culture Foundation

ONLINE JOURNAL 04.04.2011
By Wayne MADSEN
Strategic-Culture.org

Experts on Africa who have traveled extensively in Libya contend that the stories emanating from the Western media that portray Libya’s leader, Muammar Gaddafi, as engaging the services of black mercenaries from Sahara and sub-Sahara Africa is a disinformation ploy by the CIA to stoke racist fervor among Libyans rebelling against Gaddafi.

After Western news sources “reported” that Gaddafi had hired black African mercenaries to fight against Libyan rebels, thousand of black African workers in Libya were set upon by angry mobs who believed the Western propaganda that the black workers were fighting for Gaddafi.

The role of President Obama in stoking a CIA-engineered racist response by Libyan rebels has not been lost on a number of African-Americans. One leading African-American activist in Washington, DC wrote in an email: “Not demanding the accountability of a black president will garner us the same things as not holding a white President accountable – nothing.”

Western news organization reported that Libyan rebels were “hunting down” black African mercenaries but many of these were merely workers who came to Libya from their economically-depressed nations to seek employment in mainly the Libyan oil services, agricultural, and construction sectors. Ironically, a number of the Africans targeted by angry mobs spurred on by CIA and other Western intelligence planted news stories are from Kenya, the land that Obama claims as his paternal ancestral home.

Other Africans, stranded in Libya and subjected to the racial onslaught of Libyan Arabs, hailed from South Sudan, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Somalia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Nigeria. A million and a half black African guest workers were in Libya at the outbreak of the fighting between Gaddafi and rebel forces. Only a few of the Africans were evacuated with many being forced to hide in their homes and flee without the support of their governments to squalid refugee camps in Egypt, Tunisia, and Sudan. Even dark-skinned non-African workers from Bangladesh could not escape the wrath of the Libyan rebels.

Other Africans, notably those from Niger, Mali, Gabon, and Chad, recalled how Gaddafi funded development projects in their nations and they responded by travelling to Libya as volunteers to support Gaddafi. However, these volunteers were branded as mercenaries by the Western media and their intelligence agency overseers. Algeria rejected charges that its nationals were being sent to Libya to fight as mercenaries for Gaddafi.

London’s Sunday Mirror ran a dubious story on March 27 that Gaddafi’s son, Seif al-Islam Gaddafi, had fled to Zimbabwe where he was trying to enlist an African army to assist his father’s forces. The report stated that Zimbabwe’s aging dictator, Robert Mugabe, was prepared to send Zimbabwean army troops to Libya to fight alongside Gaddafi’s army.

The CIA’s propaganda war against black Africans in Libya was not limited to the editorial offices and television news bureaus of Washington, London, Paris, and New York. A Liberian presidential candidate, T. Q. Harris, blamed Gaddafi for the forced conscription of young men and boys into his army. The statement was picked up by Liberia’s longtime CIA-influenced newspapers.

On March 16, The Guardian of the UK printed a clarification of a previous report that intimated that Gaddafi had recruited mercenaries from the Zaghawa tribe living in Darfur and Chad. The Guardian wrote that there was “no evidence that members of the Zaghawa are involved in the present conflict.”

Not only were workers from Chad, Ethiopia, and Somalia hunted down by Libyan rebels and hanged from lamp posts and hacked to death with axes and machetes, but black Libyans, mostly from the southern province of Fezzan, received the same treatment. The neo-conservatives in the Washington and New York media centers ignored the plight of the black workers and continued to echo the charge that any blacks in Libya were Gaddafi mercenaries. The fact that many of the black Africans massacred by the Libyan rebels had Libyan worker documentation was lost on the Western media.

The New York Times, in a March 16 article titled “Libyan Oil Buys Loyal African Allies for Qaddafi,” wrote that Gaddafi recruiters were enlisting “about 200” young men in Mali to fight in Libya. The Times repeated the CIA-engineered disinformation story that 3,000 to 4,000 mercenaries had been recruited by Gaddafi’s government from Mali, Darfur, and Niger at a salary of $1000 per day. However, in a March 11 story in the Times, it was reported that U.S. intelligence officials were unable to confirm the report that between 4,000 and 5,000 mercenaries from Niger, Mali, and Darfur’s Justice and Equality Movement had been hired by Gaddafi for $1000 a day. In an era of information warfare, even he CIA cannot keep its planted news stories straight.

The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, in a March 17 statement on the UN Security Council’s adoption of the resolution creating a no-fly zone over Libya stated that one of the reasons was to prevent planes carrying “mercenaries” into Libya to support Gaddafi.

It has also been reported that Saudi Wahabi-linked groups among the rebels, including the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, have specifically targeted and executed Christian black African workers as “infidels” who support Gaddafi.

Adding to the psychological warfare operations that trumpeted the presence of “African mercenaries” among the Gaddafi forces was a “made-in-Israel” report that Gaddafi, with the support of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, and Aman intelligence chief Aviv Kokhavi had arranged, through the Israeli security firm Global CST, the secret transport of 50,000 African mercenaries into Libya. Gaddafi was said to have paid Israel $5 billion to the Israelis for the mercenaries. The report of an Israeli connection to blacks in Libya fueled the anger of radical Islamists among the Libyan rebels who were convinced that Gaddafi not only had a secret deal with Israel but that he was a “crypto Jew” because his grandmother was Jewish. The charge was broadcast on Israeli national television by a Libyan Jewish woman who claimed she was related to Gaddafi. Other Zionist-influenced media sources reported that Gaddafi was relying on Serbian, Ukrainian, and Syrian pilots and a group of fierce Tuareg tribal warriors recruited from across the Saharan Desert.

The Washington Times, a right-wing fringe newspaper owned by self-proclaimed Korean “Messiah” Sun Myung Moon, ran an op-ed on March 21 by Prince Mohamed Hilal al Senussi, a member of the former Libyan royal family Gaddafiousted in a 1969 coup. Senussi likened the Libyan rebels to members of the Republican “Tea Party” in the United States and he repeated the charge that Qaddafi was using black African mercenaries: “In Baida, over 100 perished in the hands of Gaddafi-employed African mercenaries from Chad, Niger and Mali, prompting local police forces and members of the army to break ranks from the regime to protect their unarmed countrymen.”

The connivance of Western intelligence agencies, in concert with Israeli elements and Western corporate media, laid the groundwork for the massacre of black Libyans and blacks from other parts of Africa, has enraged African-Americans who previously supported Obama in his political campaigns in Illinois and nationally.Obama, America’s first African-American president, now has the distinction of being the only American president to launch a bloody war on an African nation. In the eyes of many African-American political activists, Obama has revealed himself to be as much a tool of the CIA, Wall Street, the oil companies as past white American presidents.

Look Out Above for Gold and Silver Prices

From USAWatchdog, 6 APRIL 2011
By Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com
Gold hit another all-time high yesterday, closing well over $1,450 per ounce.  Silver’s closing price of more than $39 per ounce is the highest it has been in 31 years.  Why the big jump in gold and silver prices?  The answer is pretty scary because there are many reasons precious metals are heading higher.  Let’s start with the most obvious —inflation.  Kitco.com reported yesterday, “The precious yellow metal got a fresh influx of investment buying based upon heightened inflationary expectations, safe-haven demand and a weakening U.S. dollar index.” (Click here for the complete Kitco.com story.) You can give the same reasons for rising silver prices.
In the case of silver, many experts say it is way undervalued and will outperform gold as an investment.  Asset manager Eric Sprott said Monday that one of many reasons the silver price is rising is that demand “ismassively underestimated.” Financial writer Harold Goodman recently wrote an excellent silver article for SeekingAlpha.com.  Goodman backs up the “undervalued” silver premise by saying, “This next chart (below) is from a brilliant article by Mark J. Lundeen, and shows the price of silver in constant 1920 dollars, but indexed for inflation using U.S. currency in circulation rather than a flawed metric such as CPI.”   “The surprising result is that silver today is priced at only $0.16 in constant, inflation adjusted 1920 dollars, even though it was selling for $1.32 in 1920! To reach its equivalent 1920 price of $1.32 an ounce today, it would have to be priced at $296 an ounce. And unlike 1920, there is a serious shortage of physical silver inventories available for sale today . . . .”  (Click here to read the complete Goodman article on SeekingAlpha.com)
Then, there is the budget situation in Washington D.C. that is pushing up gold and silver prices.  Congress is arguing over cutting the bloated $3.7 trillion budget by less than 1 percent.  Ironically, the issue of raising the debt ceiling from $14.3 trillion must be done in a few weeks or the government will be forced to default on its debt.  Raising the debt ceiling is not an “if” but a “by how much” question.  Odds are it will be a $1 trillion increase, and that amount will have to be borrowed or printed by the government.  Investors around the globe are waking up to the fact that the U.S. will never be able to pay off its enormous debt with anything resembling the buying power of today’s dollar.  Monday, a CNSNews.com story highlighted the “March Madness” of the Federal government’s insane spending.  The report said, “That $1.0528 trillion in spending for March equaled 8.2 times the $128.179 (billion) in net federal tax revenue for the month.  The lion’s share of this federal spending went to redeem Treasury securities that had matured during the month—most of which were short-term Treasury bills that have terms of one year or less.” (Click here for the CNSNews.com story.)
Please remember, the Fed is printing a staggering $75 billion a month to finance 70% of the U.S. government’s expenses in what is known as QE2 (Quantitative Easing.)  A star panel of experts I polled in January all agree that QE, or money printing, will not end.  I reported back then, In summary, all the experts I polled think QE Will Not End.  That will surely mean an imploding U.S. dollar and exploding inflation.  This is scheduled to happen by the end of June, making this the most predictable financial calamity in history.” (Click here to read the entire original post – Economic Stimulus: Quantitative Easing QE3) Creating money out of thin air is inflationary, and gold and silver are reacting to the government’s printing press.
The U.S. is now involved in 3 expensive wars that are helping to bleed the country dry.  Even though the Obama administration promises no U.S. troops in Libya, the CIA is reportedly already on the ground there.  Former CIA Officer Michael Scheuer thinks President Obama will be forced to choose between defeat or ground troops in Libya.  In a recent CNN interview, he said, “The choice may come down to admitting it was a mistake and being defeated in the sense Gadhafi survives, or putting ground troops in.  Nations are a lot like people, they don’t like to admit mistakes.” (Click here to see the complete Scheuer CNN interview.) Scheuer thinks Libya is a bad idea because it will cost enormous amounts of money at a time when America is “nearly bankrupt.”
Are taxes going up to pay for Libya or the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq?  Of course not.  The Bush tax cuts were extended–and why not?  The U.S. can simply print money, and that devalues the buck while increasing the price of gold and silver.   The world is fearful of possible supply disruptions of oil from North Africa and the Middle East.  That, too, pushes prices higher, and nothing can stoke the inflation fire faster than higher energy costs.
The revolutions, unrest and wars in North Africa and the Middle East are not going to be resolved quickly.  The nuclear catastrophe in Japan will not be cleaned up soon, and may not be cleaned up in some areas in a hundred lifetimes.  Japan will need cash, and the U.S. will print more money when Japan sells its huge treasury holdings to raise money for rebuilding.  Likewise, there is no end in sight for America’s debt and budget problems.  All these things signal a “look out above” for gold and silver prices and a “look out below” for the value of the beleaguered buck.

GORDON DUFF: NUCLEAR 9/11 UNDENIABLE

From VeteransToday, April 4, 2011, by Gordon Duff ·

YOU ARE WATCHING THOUSANDS OF TONS OF STEEL VAPORIZE

9/11 RADIATION CANCER DEATHS CENSORED IN U.S.

By Gordon Duff STAFF WRITER/Senior Editor
When we were told that the 3 towers of the World Trade Center were destroyed by nuclear demolitions, possibly assisted by specialized thermite compounds, it began to make sense.  When hundreds of firefighters died of radiation sickness and it was blamed on mysterious and unnamed and classified “toxic soup,” we had proof.  When was reported in the London papers but not New York or anywhere else in America, it told us something is seriously wrong.
A decade after 9/11 and first responders are dying at unprecedented rates of cancers that could only be caused by high level exposure to radiation.  This is hard science, not conjecture.  The buildings, the 3 towers, hundreds of tons of steel vaporized, sites now duplicated only by Japan’s reactor meltdowns, radiated  massive and continuing heat for over two months.  9/11 was a nuclear event.
If you are looking for proof of a coverup, simply check the news;
Pick up today’s New York Times.  The “9/11″ news: In Reversal, 9/11 Plotter to Be Tried by Military Panel
Not reporting the cancers from ground zero, and let us be clear, they are radiation cancers, they are “radiation sickness,” has become “policy.”  So far radiation cancers have killed at least 345 firefighters. Ten times that number may have died, misdiagnosed, or simply left off the lists.
This isn’t just a coverup, its one that “keeps on giving.”  Those who need screening aren’t getting it.  Ten years later, hiding the truth to “protect the public from panic” isn’t going to fly.
10,000 have sued with an undisclosed number having cancers and other “suspicious” illnesses tied to “ground zero.”  The total numbers sick, in particular those who develop leukemia or other cancers over the the next decade and more could top 50,000.
This is the “why” that explains the censorship, the classified studies and the refusal to investigate 9/11 and the mysterious demolition of Building 7, the tower never hit by anything a building that came down though virtually untouched.
As Dr. Alan Sabrosky has said repeatedly, “If one tower was destroyed by controlled demolition, then all three were.”
BUILDING WHAT
Why is the issue radiation sickness if two airplanes took down three huge steel buildings?  Oh, you didn’t know there were three buildings, not two?  You may also have been unaware that the molten fires under “ground zero” were finally extinguished on December 15, 2001 though the jet fuel blamed on the destruction was burned off in less than 2 minutes at temperatures unable to warp the fender of a Yugo, much less vaporize hundreds of tons of 3 inch structural steel.
TESTIMONY TOO
Then again, you are probably unaware that the FBI flew to Bangkok, Thailand in 2007, to interview former Soviet nuclear intelligence officer Dimitri Khalezov.  Khalezov told them that he was briefed by the Soviet government, based on their treaty with the United States, of nuclear demolition charges embedded well below the WTC buildings, all of them.
Khalezov has agreed to take a lie detector test.  Remember, Khalezov is the person who told us that Mike Harari, Mossad operations director, claimed responsibility for 9/11.
GOVERNMENT SCIENCE
About a month ago, I learned, from the New York Times, that one firefighter had died of radiation cancer, multiple myeloma.  Now I find the real number is admitted to be at least 345, a number that could only be possible if the firefighters were exposed to radiation from a nuclear blast within 72 hours of the explosion.
There is simply no other explanation, certainly not the “toxic soup” story being spread around.
If jet fuel caused cancer, we all would have been dead long ago, our air is filled with it.  Was the World Trade Center a massive storage area for toxic chemicals as is claimed?  Steel?  Glass?  Aluminum?  Carpet?  Particle board?  Gypsum?  Polystyrene?  Shouldn’t we all be dead?  Wouldn’t every house fire, ever smoldering junk pile be, by the standards of the Department of 9/11 Fantasy and Mythology, an environmental disaster?
I think we just covered 99% of it there, all things in any house fire, in fact much less dangerous than the typical house fire and absolutely nothing that causes Leukemia or Multiple Myeloma, the diseases killing off the New York City Fire Department and unknown “others” that nobody is tracking, nobody is checking on.  We call those “others” the people of New York.
For those out there who still try to believe that airplanes knock down the largest steel buildings in the world, largest and strongest, that even buildings hit by nothing at all simply dissolve into their own sub-basements, the idea of nuclear weapons being used has to have a wild and conspiratorial sound.
Then again, there is proof, scientific proof, that and testimony.
Steel doesn’t dissolve on its own.  Very little steel was hauled away from “ground zero.”  Most simply disappeared.  Yes, I have heard the story about the ship built “with” steel from the WTC.  I also have seen the photos and heard the testimony of rivers of molten steel pouring off the building and burning for two months in the mysterious cavern below, a virtual volcano.  Weeks later, workers had boots melt from the overheated soil.  Jet fuel is kerosene.  You can use it to start your barbeque.  If it catches fire on your hands, put it out quickly or you might get burned.
VETERANS TODAY
A few weeks ago, as mentioned earlier, news crept out of a single firefighter dying of radiation sickness. At the same time, I reviewed Jeff Prager’s online magazine, Dust II.  Prager had been way ahead of the curve on all of this.
I spent a couple of hours with Jeff Pragers “Dust I” and “Dust II” last night. This 108 page E-magazine, mostly science with amazing photos of “ground zero” from 9/11 is an analysis of the nuke v. thermite theories on 9/11. It is the first comprehensive piece on 9/11 that touches on absolutes, energy use, thermal energy and such. Some of the “hard science” checks out, enough to debunk NIST certainly. He is also fair and open on the thermite issue and leave the door open there as well. Prager makes a strong case for 9/11 being a nuke event. I sent it out to weapons science guys and will get back to you on this. What is clear is that there are more government spies involved in 9/11 theories than infiltrated the militia movements of the 80s and 90s. The medical evidence of radiation exposure at ‘ground zero’ is in already. First responders were “zapped.” Some reviews in this morning on Prager’s piece say he is abusing science more than a bit. Perhaps we have a potential debate going here…always a good thing.
So often I hear, “How could a nuclear weapon be exploded in New York City.  Wouldn’t people die of leukemia and radiation exposure?”
Wouldn’t they, though.
