Eduardo Galeano: A profound insight into how activists can "Keep the Gods inside."

From ROAR:
“This upside-down world is shitty, but it’s not the only one that’s possible. There is another world that awaits us. And the youth are taking it forward.”
Eduardo Galeano (wiki) is a famous Uruguayan journalist, writer and novelist who has long commanded intellectual and artistic respect in Latin America, Spain and beyond.
In 2009, one of his books, The Open Veins of Latin America, became a global best-selling sensation all over when Hugo Chávez donated the book —an awesome history of Latin America post-1492— as a present to President Obama.
More recently, Galeano, who at the age of 70 still bears an unremitting desire to contribute to the improvement of our profoundly shitty world, has been actively following the 15-M movement in Spain, participating in popular assemblies in Madrid and Barcelona.
AcampadaBCN had a short interview with him, which was recently re-posted by the US-based activist magazine Adbusters. In it, Galeano provides some flashing insights of profound wisdom.
The revolution is like love — if you just keep asking every time “where will this lead”, you will never truly experience the beauty of the moment. So be enthusiastic, “keep the Gods inside”, and watch the new world being born within the old:

Outcasts: Tonight Tens Of Thousands Of Formerly Middle Class Americans Will Be Sleeping In Their Cars, In Tent Cities Or On The Streets

From The economic collapse blog:

Economic despair is beginning to spread rapidly in America.  As you read this, there are millions of American families that are just barely hanging on by their fingernails.  For a growing number of Americans, it has become an all-out battle just to be able to afford to sleep under a roof and put a little bit of food on the table.  Sadly, there are more people than ever that are losing that battle.  Tonight, tens of thousands of formerly middle class Americans will be sleeping in their cars, even though that is illegal in many U.S. cities.  Tens of thousands of others will be sleeping in tent cities or on the streets.  Meanwhile, communities all over America are passing measures that are meant to push tent cities and homeless people out of their areas.  It turns out that once you lose your job and your home in this country you become something of an outcast.  Sadly, the number of "outcasts" is going to continue to grow as the U.S. economy continues to collapse.
Most Americans that end up living in their cars on in tent cities never thought that it would happen to them.
An article in Der Spiegel profiled one American couple that is absolutely shocked at what has happened to them....
Chanelle Sabedra is already on that road. She and her husband have been sleeping in their car for almost three weeks now. "We never saw this coming, never ever," says Sabedra. She starts to cry. "I'm an adult, I can take care of myself one way or another, and same with my husband, but (my kids are) too little to go through these things." She has three children; they are nine, five and three years old.
"We had a house further south, in San Bernardino," says Sabedra. Her husband lost his job building prefab houses in July 2009. The utility company turned off the gas. "We were boiling water on the barbeque to bathe our kids," she says. No longer able to pay the rent, the Sabedras were evicted from their house in August.
How would you feel if you had a 3 year old kid and a 5 year old kid and you were sleeping in a car?
Sadly, if child protective services finds out about that family those kids will probably be stolen away and never returned.
America is becoming a very cruel place.
Unfortunately, what has happened to that family is not an isolated incident.  As rampant unemployment has spread across America, the number of people that have lost their homes has soared.
Today, it is estimated that approximately a third of the homeless population in Seattle live in their cars.
It is even happening to my readers.  A reader named JD left the following comment on one of my articles a while back....
I was laid off from my construction job almost 2 yrs ago was on unenjoyment for over a yr they cut me off last september so i lost my apartment. Since then ive been couch surfing and hotel hopping. Now i occaisonally sleep in my car. I was lucky enough to have a friend with a lawn care business so i can at least put ever increasing gas in my car\house. I hate to say it but i think we will see hoovervilles in the major cities soon. When the welfare & food stamps & all the other govt. programs end the anarchy begins.
Desperation is rising all over America.  Most people had hoped to see aneconomic recovery by now but it just hasn't happened.
The phenomenon of Americans living in their cars has become so prominent that even Time Magazine has done a story about it....
For people who cannot afford rent, a car is the last rung of dignity and sanity above the despair of the streets. A home on wheels is a classic American affair, from the wagon train to the RV. Now, for some formerly upwardly mobile Americans, the economic storm has turned the backseat or the rear of the van into the bedroom. "We found six people sleeping in their cars on an overnight police ride-along in December," says John Edmund, chief of staff to Long Beach councilman Dee Andrews. "One was a widow living in a four-door sedan. She and her husband had been Air Force veterans. She did not know about the agencies that could help her. I had tears in my eyes afterwards."
Unfortunately, it turns out that sleeping in cars has been made illegal in many areas of the United States.
In many cities, police are putting boots on the cars and when the homeless owners can't pay the fines the vehicles are being taken away from them.
Venice, California is one place where people have been arrested for living in vehicles.  Venice had been a popular spot for people living in their RVs to go, but police started arresting people that were living in RVs and they began towing away their vehicles. The following is an excerpt from an article that appeared on the Daily Kos website....
They took Eric while he was changing his battery in his car. Claimed he lived in his car. A few days later they went to 3th Street and took his RV because he was in jail and no one moved it for 72 hours. Saturday they did a sweep of 7th and took Bear and his RV. They also took Elizabeth's RV but do not know if they took Elizabeth but can not find her. The police went to 6th and took the white RV that always parks by Broadway on 6th. Everyday they take 1 to 4 RVs. Very soon there will be no one left.
Once you are down on your luck in America you will quickly find that authorities will try to take everything else you still have away from you.
The United States can be a very brutal place to be if you are poor.
All over America, communities are making tent cities illegal or they are simply just chasing them away.
It turns out that many Americans really don't like large numbers of homeless people camping out in their neighborhoods.
But many of those now living in tent cities used to be just like you and me.
What is being done to tent cities in some areas of the country is absolutely disgusting.
For example, who could ever forget this video of police in St. Petersburg, Florida using box cutters to slash up the tents of the homeless....

What goes through your mind when you watch something like that?
If you don't feel at least a little bit of compassion for those people then something is wrong.
You never know - you might be the next one forced to take refuge in a tent city.
In many U.S. cities, it is even illegal to sleep on the street.  If you are homeless I am not sure what you are supposed to do.  In some areas of the U.S. you can't sleep in your car, you can't sleep in a tent city and you can't sleep on the street.
So what should we do with all of the Americans that are being forced out of their homes by this economy?
Should we just round them all up and put them into fenced camps?
Don't laugh - we are getting closer to that kind of thing every day.
We live in very frightening times.
Poverty is absolutely exploding in America.  The number of Americans that are going to food pantries and soup kitchens has increased by 46% since 2006.  There are 44 million Americans on food stamps.  If it was not for measures like these, the streets of America would be filled with destitute people.
Things are tough out there and they are about to get tougher.
At the beginning of next year, the extended unemployment benefits that have been helping the unemployed during this economic downturn will expire.  Up to now, many unemployed Americans have been able to enjoy up to 99 weeks of unemployment benefits.  Now that is coming to an end.
According to the New York Times, this is going to drain 37 billion dollars out of the wallets of unemployed Americans that are just barely hanging on.
What in the world is that going to do to the economy?
This all comes at a time when it looks like unemployment is going to start rising once again.
Cisco has just announced that they are going to be laying off 10,000 workers.  Other large firms are expected to announce more layoffs shortly.  The number of good jobs continues to shrink.
There are other signs that the economy is slowing once again.  Pre-orders for Christmas toys are way down.  Vacancies at U.S. shopping malls are rising again.  Nearly every major poll shows that Americans are extremely pessimistic about the economy right now.
So why in the world is all of this happening?
Where in the world did all of our jobs go?
Well, it turns out that millions of our jobs have been shipped overseas where the labor is far, far cheaper and it is really starting to catch up with us.
On The American Dream website, I just finished an article entitled "How Globalism Has Destroyed Our Jobs, Businesses And National Wealth In 10 Easy Steps".  It is a 2500 word essay that explains how globalization has absolutely gutted our economy.  The article will hopefully help you understand why so many good jobs have left the United States and why they aren't coming back.
Many of our great cities that used to be the envy of the entire globe are now a bad joke to the rest of the world.
The following is what one reporter from the UK found when he visited one of the worst areas of Detroit....
Occasionally a half-ruined or half-burned house still stands to remind you that this used to be a cityscape. Pathetic, besieged knots of surviving homes remind you of what was once here. Sometimes amazing efforts have been made to keep them smart. More often, they haven’t.
Many bear menacing notices warning visitors to stay away. On the door of one, easy to imagine as a neat home with an iron-pillared porch where the head of the family must once have sat on summer evenings, are the words ‘Enter at ya own risk’ accompanied by a crude drawing of an angry face.
I ventured into a nearby ruin, smashed, charred and half-filled with garbage. You have no idea who or what might be lurking in these houses.
But don't laugh at Detroit.  What is happening in Detroit is coming to your area soon enough.
America is in an advanced state of decay.  The number of "outcasts" is going to multiply as more Americans lose their jobs and their homes.  Millions more Americans will be sleeping in their cars, in tent cities or on the streets before this is all over.
The U.S. economy is never going to get back to "normal".  What we are living through now is the "new normal" and it is rip-roaring prosperity compared to what is coming.
Please show compassion to the people around you that are hurting right now.
You never know, as the economy continues to unravel it may be you that needs some compassion soon.

The Money Changers Last Hurrah

From Rense2011-07-14
By: Jim Kirwan
The US Dollar has been working toward this day for 98 years. And as this is being written the overreach of the Money-Changers is approaching their final hours. Everything supposedly at risk here in the great standoff between the stand-in president and the criminal congress could easily be settled if the public would simply begin to chant these two simple words:
"PROVE IT!"

Or as one reader said yesterday: "I've read VERY little concerning the recent lies of Obama and company on the SS and debt ceiling, because what I DID read was obvious enough: they're lying and rather badly. What I read was filled with "we don't know" and "might not be able to" and "we're not sure". REALLY. How is possible that the highest officers in the land DON'T KNOW THE FACTS? The tiny article linked-to above gives us enough info to prove the "official" statements are bold-faced lies. I WANT THESE CRIMINALS JAILED FOR LIFE, STARTING YESTERDAY!" (1)

This supposedly final chance to deal with the national-debt-ceiling is nothing more than another threat from the Money-Changers in their temple that was built on greed and money.

When this nation was about halfway into this abbreviated life of the US Dollar there were literally hundreds of professions and millions of decent jobs. "Life" was what this was all about then. And aside from the Cold-War, Life still meant a myriad of things and ideas; and daily-life held promises unending for those willing to apply themselves. 'Regulations' were minimal, and the tyranny of this current form of micro-management of every-day-life was clearly illegal: What changed?

When we thought we were free we each followed our own stars and as we individually succeeded the country prospered. In that day and time people tried to face the CHALLENGE that each life held; whereas in today's world we have stood that equation on its head so that the only thing we ever explore is how quickly we can find ways to COMPROMISE with the truth. The population, while certainly not perfect was a lot more tolerant than it is now; but the elites were just bidding their time until they could spring this trap that was finally able to turn the healthiest economy in the world into a TAR-BABY that answered only to WAR and to Rumors of War unending. But to get there the first thing that the global-corporate-monsters had to do was to eliminate "the public" from every area of life and enterprise; and to do that they needed a completely co-opted government to insure success.

Our lives are very much like the grains of sand in an hourglass, passing far too quickly from the fullness of the upper chamber into the lower regions to await the next chapter of existence. The choke-point for the passage of our lives from useful to "used" did not always have either the thought-police or the Money-Changers standing guard, as is the case today. Creating these illegal and self-appointed watchdogs was the way the elites chose to control every single facet of every human life, from new-born infants all the way to the very old. The medium they used was MONEY in all its forms, so that no matter what anyone might want to do with their own lives, each of us now must have the government's permission to do anything at all. This is the direct-opposite of what the Constitution described for ordinary people at all levels of this society: Yet that is exactly what is in its final stages now, as they are about to make that leap from a working hypothesis to 'graduation' into full-blown tyranny and global-Martial Law. Here's how this particular series of secret-wars against us all got jump-started by Cheney-Bush. (2)

Who has made these decisions that have ruined so many lives; tortured so many victims of their policies; and killed so many more from neglect, from starvation and from the sheer greed of arrogance? Those who say they represent us in the congress work just 52 days every year (according to the Congressional Record): That's right in exchange for $200,000 a year, full benefits, a lifetime retirement for every term they serve, and a generous expense account: Our 'representatives' need only "work" FIFTY-TWO DAYS out of every 365 days in a single year. Roughly that comes out to $3,885.00 a day for each day that these criminals supposedly work!

These are the same people that are demanding that Social Security and Medicare come to end, in order to add that money to the now well over three trillion dollars that they have poured into just the last dozen years of this terror-driven war upon the planet and on everyone else that is trying to live here.

But the Money-Changers are not content with funneling every last dime into their 'unending wars,' because to succeed they must literally control every thought and every action of every person here. That surpasses slavery by huge margin; but it's what we have now and unless we successfully turn this 'debt' back onto the backs of the corporations that created every bit of it-this will bring an end to the dollar and with that collapse everything else will just melt away like a tar-baby left in Death Valley for the summer. The world could easily survive the bankruptcy of the corporations, all of them! What we cannot survive is the end of global society. WAR is the only thing that this country is about now. Yet WAR is never mentioned, much less discussed as foreign policy; War is our dirtiest and most vile secret-agenda, and it has swallowed every creative enterprise that was created for the betterment of humanity and turned everything into either war or the super-secrecy that surrounds our every waking thought.

Other nations have had their own cultures, but the only culture this country has is what it has either stolen or twisted into the only thing that matters to the elite which is 'pure-profit regardless of the cost!' This leaves no room for human life to even-exist, except as transitory slaves to these dark-engines of power that lust for a form of greed that can never be quenched.

Back in that same time in the 1950's when the dollar was just beginning its downfall people were beginning to enjoy their lives; until the House Un-American-Activities Committee put an end to all of that with Black-Lists and the internal terror of SUSPICION that seemed to lurk behind every conversation, every association, and virtually every thought that our creative community every had. That was the trial run for what we have now, but instead of Communism, the Bush-Clinton-Cheney-Bush-Obama nightmare has made every person in the United States the target of every hellish plot they might be able to conceive: Because now All Americans are Enemies of this STATE. Here's how this series of crimes came to be. (3)

Remember when this country made cars and trucks? Remember when we made steel and when we led the world in manufacturing? Remember when you could just go to any airport and buy a ticket to anywhere and there was no TSA? Remember when there were no cities like Detroit or states like Michigan which has just decided to give the state-government jobs they just took away from state-employees to prisoners? Remember when there were public-services, owned by the public and free from the regulation-police?

Remember when there was a pubic-sector before everything was privatized? Remember when you chose a job because of what YOU wanted to do with your life, and not because you needed the meager money to just exist? Remember when you believed the government would honor its promises to you; and when you thought that your representative actually cared about what you think? Or remember the times when you could call the cops and not fear that they might torture or kill you once they arrived?

Remember when there had to be "probable cause" before any search of your person, your car or your home could be undertaken? Remember when officers had to explain why they were doing what they were about to do before they tasered you, handcuffed you, or shot you dead without first charging you or arresting you, before they pulled the trigger? In those days and times the commanding officers all the way up to the chiefs of police would have been fired for such behavior: Today it is just business as usual!

Every single thing we do now has to be licensed, approved of and paid for before it can even be actually considered by you as something that you "can actually do." For this you must remember the guardians of that gateway in the chokepoint of the hourglass-the Money-Changers, and the thought-police they created to protect themselves. With the invention of computers the government and their criminal-partners in the privatized-global world can now track every single thing about any one of us-at will!

In the 1950's no one with any gifts at all even considered taking business-courses in college-because business was for nerds and for social outcasts without imagination. Today literature is forgotten; history is being dropped as a necessary or useful course because the past has nothing to teach today's students. The arts were the first to be co-opted, but now virtually anything and everything that does not have to do with either making vast sums of money, or working for those that do that successfully, is all that anyone ever seems to take the time to study.

What has been created by the Money-Changers is not life, and is in fact anti-life for over ninety-per-cent of the people on the planet. Medicine, law, justice; these professions and many more no longer exist because most of us have become outlaws, just to continue to exist. The police can lie about everything they say to any suspect: and are praised (even promoted) for this but if any suspect lies in response to the police he or she gets time in prison at the very least. There is something called the Department of Corrections (Prisons) how ironic, because instead of rehabilitating people all that this "department" does is insure that when the prisoners get out that they'll be coming back real soon!

Today's Americans-in-Prison can be treated just as we treated the millions of US prisoners that we ran through Abu Ghraib, and then released, because they were not guilty of anything-but of course this is not publicized. The judges, the prosecutors and the defense attorneys are all part of this national-hijacking of the American Just-Us System and that has made this nation the world-leader in the number of people arrested per every 100 people in the population. IfAmerica is so great why must we imprison so many of our own people? And when did we give the government permission to micro-manage our personal lives, our habits and our most private thoughts? We didn't: They just decided that they could-and we did nothing to stop them! So apparently we deserve everything that we have now. Here's more on that story: (4)

The beginnings of the idea of stopping this have started, but this must spread quickly if we are to ever be free-again. The alternative is unthinkable. (5)

Who Decides On Nation-States?

From Strategic Culture Foundation, 17.07.2011
By Wayne MADSEN (USA)
 |
The national aspirations of peoples are governed by rank public relations schemes
On July 9, the Republic of South Sudan became the newest internationally-recognized nation-state. As the result of a civil war truce and peace deal worked out five years previously, South Sudan and its former master, the Republic of Sudan, independent since 1956, mutually recognized their divorce.
Unlike the “velvet divorce” of the Czech Republic and Slovakia from the former Czechoslovakia, the Sudanese divorce of the largely Muslim north and majority Christian south was all but peaceful. The two sides staked rival claims to border regions such as the oil-rich Abyei and a renewed war between north and south Sudan loomed as the south achieved independence.
The independence gala in the South Sudan capital of Juba was attended by such luminaries - some would call them “interlopers” - as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, U.S. Africa Command chief General Carter Ham, British Foreign Secretary William Hague, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe. The international “glitterati” from the West studiously avoided meeting Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir, who faces an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for war crimes in Darfur.
The snub of Bashir in Juba by the Western leaders points to the essence of international diplomacy today.International relations have become a “reality television show,” where leaders who do not comport to the standards dictated by a consortium of political leaders representing multi-national corporate interests and international “do-gooders” like actor George Clooney and actress Angelina Jolie representing un-elected and well-paid executives of non-government organizations decide what peoples are repressed, what regions deserve independence, and what leaders are “good guys” and “bad guys.” International diplomacy has become a children’s game and the effects have plunged nations and peoples into civil war and strife…
South Sudan was immediately recognized by Sudan, the United States, Russia, China, and other major nations and was quickly voted in by the UN as its 193rd member.
Although Kosovo, carved out of Serbia by some of the same players that succeeded in breaking South Sudan away from Sudan, was not able to join the UN because of Russian and Chinese permanent member veto threats, the largely Albanian state received the warm embrace of Washington, Paris, London, and Brussels.
Why did South Sudan and Kosovo succeed where other aspirant nations like Palestine, Abkhazia, Western Sahara, and Somaliland have failed? The answer is a very basic capitalistic one: South Sudanhas large oil reserves and Kosovo has large coal and rare earth mineral reserves. Therefore, their independence was nurtured and blessed by the world powers that want to exploit the resources of these new “nations” on behalf of corporate interests. It was decided that for the corporate elites it was more beneficial to deal with newly-independent states than the central governments of Serbia and Sudan. The historical template for such imperialist and corporate backing of secessionists is an old one: the United States backed Panamanian separatists from Colombia to get a better deal on the construction of the Panama Canal and American-backed secessionists in Texas helped to ensure that the vast Mexican territory would eventually become an American state. U.S. shipping companies would benefit greatly from the canal as would U.S. railroad and cattle tycoons from the acquisition of Texas.
Some would argue that East Timor, which achieved independence from Indonesia in 2002 after a bloody war for independence, had nothing to do with natural resources craved by the West but was an outreach by the West to a beleaguered people. However, it was shortly after independence that Australia sought to gain lucrative deals on oil exploration in the Timor Sea, in waters claimed by East Timor. Canberra obviously believed that it could get a better deal from East Timor than from the Indonesian government in Jakarta, with which Australia has had a tortured history.
Somaliland, which declared independence from fractured Somalia in 1991, and briefly enjoyed independence in 1960, after it was granted independence before joining Italian Somaliland, feels it should also be granted independence. Somaliland is a functioning democracy and enjoys de facto independence. However, the African Union maintains that it has a policy that colonial borders should not be altered.
That policy has been overturned by the independence of Eritrea from Ethiopia in 1993 and the recent independence of South Sudan. However, as much as Somaliland has legitimate reasons to be recognized as independent, the axis of NGO’s with overt and hidden agendas – groups like the International Crisis Group, George Soros’s Open Society Institute, International Rescue Committee, as well as celebrities like Clooney and Jolie – have determined that there is nothing Somaliland has to offer the capitalist exploiters, bankers, or heart strings of the constantly-duped citizens of Western countries. Making matters worse for Somaliland is the presence of a large CIA counter-terrorism presence in Mogadishu, a capital largely without a country to govern but one where the U.S. props up a pathetically-ineffective “national unity government.” As long as Washington maintains a love fest for the anarchy known as Somalia, Somaliland has little chance of becoming a full member of the UN.
The same situation exists with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the de facto independence of which is strenuously opposed by the Georgian government. Georgia has used the same lobbying tactics and influence operations that its ally Israel uses to wage a battle against independence and statehood for Palestine. In both cases, Georgia and Israel have received the backing of the same ruling global elites that successfully promoted the independence of Kosovo and South Sudan.
As South Sudan became the 193rd member state of the UN, Palestine was preparing its own application to become the international organization’s 194th member. However, Palestine faced a definite veto from the United States in the UN Security Council, which must approve new members without a veto from any of its permanent members. Israel wielded its considerable influence among its international lobby, largely composed of politically- and financially-connected Jewish pressure groups, to stymie the statehood and UN membership aspirations of Israel. The U.S. House of Representatives voted to suspend aid to the Palestinian Authority for pursuing a statehood resolution in the UN General Assembly, where the United States holds no veto power.
On July 11, 104 European Parliament members wrote a letter to Baroness Catherine Ashton, the EU Foreign Affairs High Representative, urging her not to support Palestine’s bid for recognition by the UN. Israel, desperate to mobilize its lobby in the EU Parliament, looked foolish when the motley list of the parliament members signing the letter was closely examined: a Danish member who likes to sing Nazi songs and give the Nazi salute; a British Euro-skeptic who is a lesbian activist; the British Tory father of a journalist for the Rupert Murdoch-owned and scandal-plagued paper, The Sun; a Spanish neo-fascist and proud descendant of a notorious Spanish slave-trader; a British-Sri Lankan who represents the interests of the U.S. far right-wing Heritage Foundation and U.S. Republican Party in both Britain and the EU; a British Tory one-time scholar for the American far-right state-level American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) group; and a Polish member whose main interests in parliamentary committees include Israel and beer.
The sad facts are that, today, the fates of nations and aspirant peoples are no longer determined by tactful and seasoned diplomats but are left to the whims of charlatan politicians, movie performers, and unanswerable executives of NGOs that shill for multinational corporate interests. Diplomacy is not in the purview of modern-day Dag Hammarskjolds, Ralph Bunches, or Lester Pearsons but left to the devices of flirty Susan Rices, publicity-hungry George Clooneys, and circus act parliamentarians eager for their stipends of shekels from Jerusalem’s influence peddlers.

Rupert Murdoch’s Sewer Press Sun Attack on Tony Farrell: How Low can You Go?

By Neil Foster The Sovereign Independent
Yesterday The Sun ‘newspaper’ in Britain carried a story related to the credible and easily proven revelations of Tony Farrell, a former senior police intelligence analyst, that the London Bombings of 7th July 2005 were orchestrated by elements within the UK government and NOT Muslim ‘terrorists’ as the perpetrators, the UK government would have us believe. This man, in every sense of the word, has put himself in great danger from the establishment to follow his moral conscience and code of ethics and deserves better than gutter condemnation form the gutter press of Rupert Murdoch’s cesspit of vice and corruption known as News International.
These so called ‘reporters’ turned up at Mr Farrell’s house to interview him and proceeded to produce the pathetic hit piece on his character in the article below.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3699907/77-was-a-plot-by-the-Government.html
This is of course typical of all mainstream media in relation to anything which comes close to revealing the establishment tyranny being imposed upon the British people and also further afield.
It should also be said that The Sun is another of Rupert Murdoch’s media rags which has no credibility whatsoever in terms of honesty or integrity and which I’m sure is involved in the same corrupt
practices as it’s incestuous, and now defunct former sister paper, the News of the World.

What we have here is an attempt by a mainstream media tabloid to put the genie back in the bottle in light of Mr. Farrell’s very credible and easily verifiable accusations against the same establishment of which Rupert Murdoch’s empire has now been shown to have been complicit in propping up and permanently propagating lies and deception on a grand scale.
This included pushing the case for illegal wars which have claimed the lives of millions of innocent men, women and children in the Middle East and now Libya.

What we have is the epitome of evil within the establishment. Some are scurrying like rats from a sinking ship attempting to expose the system and the media. However, in light of the extremely suspicious
death of News of the World ‘journalist’ Sean Hoare and the recent extremely suspicious death of Conservative flyer Christopher Shale in a Glastonbury toilet, it’s becoming blatantly obvious that speaking out has become a serious health hazard.

These hack ‘reporters’ must start to question themselves and their own conscience in light of the trash written in the article above and make some attempt to examine facts as laid out by Mr. Farrell in relation to the murder by the British government of 52 human beings in London on 7th July 2005.
Are these people so naïve to think that the fate of Christopher Shale or Sean Hoare won’t be repeated by others who seek to retrieve humanity from the brink of utter destruction at the hands of a small
group of elitists psychopaths who will stop at nothing to achieve their world system of totalitarian horror which they wish to inflict upon the world with Britain being the flagship for all of it?

Haven’t they noticed that we here are the most spied upon nation on the planet? I was in Duxford just over a week ago and say various WWI and WWII planes in the sky. The men who flew those planes in times of war fought to defend this country and its freedom from the tyranny now being brought to bear on their children grandchildren.
They would turn in their graves if they could witness what is going on in this country today under the guise of ‘democracy’ which they chose to give their lives to defend.
It’s a sad indictment on the world we find ourselves in today that I have to say THEY WERE DUPED!
The media in this country is in such a state of denial as to what’s really going on or it is either complicit in ensuring that what’s going on is kept hidden in the shadows until the time comes when they can hide it no more.
Well, have I got news for you! YOU HAVE BEEN RUMMBLED!
We are onto you and we will not stop exposing you for what you are; nothing but a deceitful cabal of liars and propagandists for the gang of criminals who ultimately seek to wipe out vast numbers of humanity.
Is this what you signed up for?
Do any of you have the moral fibre and courage to stand out from the crowd of prostitute scribblers of fantasy fiction or are you all whimpering cowards whose death is guaranteed by the very people you defend in your obnoxious and ludicrous diversionary column inches? If you have the courage contact us at:editor@sovereignindependent.com and we’ll gladly listen to what you have to say. We are the media with moral fibre and integrity and you can speak to us anonimously or openly. The choice is yours.
Unfortunately, with the recent and ultimately fatal exposure of criminality within Rupert Murdoch’s empire, Sean Hoare it appears has paid the ultimate price.
However, the only way for this tyranny to end is by mass exposure to the masses by the mass media en masse!
You who think you are immune from such tyranny have obviously lived in a world or lies and deception for far too long that you believe your own spurious nonsense. It is your only reality.
The British people and those millions being murdered across the planet in very lucrative and genocidal wars being fought in our name, under the guise of bringing ‘democracy’ to the world, through mass slaughter of innocent people, deserve better than a media controlled and manipulated by powerful vested interests.
For those who wish to indulge themselves in this fantasy world I fear for you all. You are meat on the table for the savage brutes who can mutilate, sexually abuse and slaughter children without a qualm or morsel of regret. You should be full to the brim with indignant outrage at the vicious acts of so called ‘pillars of society’. Do you think your children are safe from such creatures?
The alternative media is reporting such savagery, lies and corruption on a massive scale, so much so that you can’t hide behind the trivia and naked women littering your pages. You can’t hide when the knock on the door comes to your door when you’ve fulfilled your task of deception and are nothing more than a liability to those paymasters and pimps you ‘work’ for. You may simply have said the wriong thing to a colleague whom you thought you could trust. Do you trust your colleagues in light of recent suspicious deaths of people who have spoken out?
It’s time to stop snorting dubious substances up your tabloid and broadsheet snouts, get them out of the trough of easy money and limited liability and start looking at your own husbands, wives and children.
You or they could well be the next victims of the criminal cabal who were responsible for the atrocities of 7th July 2005 as they panic and stage another even more horrific false flag terror event.
Are you willing to take that risk?
It’s time to decide where your duty and loyalty lies. Is to yourself and your family or to a sick cabal whose lust for control and power has no limit and who will never desist from any actions, however
horrific and base, to achieve such a terrifying goal?

You must decide or face the obvious consequences of your actions when the public finally understand the role you have played in the ultimate destruction of everything they hold dear.

Murdoch’s “News of the World” Whisteblower Found DEAD!

10 Questions The MPs Will Not Ask Murdoch

By Robin Beste
July 18, 2011 "Stop the War Coalition" --
What was it about the relationship with Murdoch that made Tony Blair feel it was appropriate to take a phone call from a newspaper proprietor just hours prior to the most momentous decision a prime minister can make: ordering the country's armed forces to war?

When Rupert Murdoch appears before the parliamentary committee on 19 July 2011, here are ten questions the MPs certainly will not ask about the relationship he had with Tony Blair during the run up to the Iraq war, when Murdoch was, in the words of Blair's former press officer Lance Price, "the third most powerful figure in the Labour government", after Blair himself and Gordon Brown.
  1. In 2002-3 all of your 127 newspapers around the world, with a combined circulation of 40 million a week, supported the Iraq war. We now know you were often in direct contact with the then prime minister Tony Blair, who you said at the time was "extraordinarily courageous and strong" and who had "shown great guts" in planning the war on Iraq. How much coordination was there between Downing Street  and News International on the media presentation of what was widely regarded as an illegal war?
  2. You said when interviewed in the run up to the war that Iraq's oil was central to the rationale for overthrowing Saddam Hussein: "The greatest thing to come out of this for the world economy...would be $20 a barrel for oil. That's bigger than any tax cut in any country." Tony Blair always insisted in public that Iraq's oil played no part in the decision to attack Iraq. To what extent did he agree with you in private that getting control of the world's second biggest oil reserves was at the heart of the war aims?
  3. All of your newspapers  used Tony Blair's "dodgy dossier" of September 2002 to try and generate a war fever with the bogus claim that -- in the words of The Sun headline -- "BRITS 45 MINUTES FROM DOOM". The hand of Alistair Campbell, Blair's press officer, is widely regarded as having been responsible for the dossier's fabrications. There was no coverage in the Sun or the rest of News International's outlets, when it was revealed that some of this dossier, which was supposed to present a cast iron case for attacking Iraq, was drawn from a 12-year old thesis, published on the internet by a PhD student. Was this because you and Blair made a pact that News International would be relentless in promoting the war, even if this meant using lies and distortion?
  4. You spoke to Tony Blair by telephone on 11 March 2003, after the announcement by the then French prime minister Jacques Chirac that France would veto a second United Nations resolution sanctioning war against Iraq. Blair was banking on this resolution to help sell a war that was opposed by an overwhelming majority of the British public. The next day, the Sun wrote, "Like a cheap tart who puts price before principle, money before honour, Jacques Chirac struts the streets of shame. The French President's vow to veto the second resolution at the United Nations - whatever it says - puts him right in the gutter." To what extent did your conversation with Blair influence the co-ordinated attack on Chirac across all of your newspapers?
  5. You spoke again with Blair on 13 March 2003. The next day, the Sun intensified its vitriolic abuse of Chirac: "Charlatan Jacques Chirac is basking in cheap applause for his 'Save Saddam' campaign - but his treachery will cost his people dear. This grandstanding egomaniac has inflicted irreparable damage on some of the most important yet fragile structures of international order." Did your conversation with Tony Blair reveal that the "grandstanding egomaniac" and "damage to the structures of international order" may have been more appropriately applied to him rather than to Chirac?
  6. Your third phone call with Tony Blair within nine days took place on 19 March 2003, the day before the Iraq war started. What was it about the relationship you had with Tony Blair that made him feel it was appropriate to take a phone call from a newspaper proprietor just hours prior to the most momentous decision a prime minister can make: ordering the country's armed forces to war?
  7. When the United Nations inspectors under Hans Blix could find no evidence of Iraq having weapons of mass destruction, the coverage in your newspapers bordered on hysteria -- "HE'S GOT 'EM. LET'S GET HIM" screamed the Sun headline. When it was later shown beyond dispute that the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq never existed, did you not feel that News International should have issued an apology for promoting a lie to justify an illegal war?
  8. You spoke to Tony Blair on January 29, 2004. This was the day after the Sun leaked extracts from the Hutton Report into the death of government scientist David Kelly, who had been hounded to suicide by Alistair Campbell and the Blair spin machine. Kelly had been revealed -- almost certainly by a leak from Blair's office -- as the source of the BBC report that said the case for war had been "sexed up" in the "dodgy dossier". The Hutton Report, since thoroughly discredited as a whitewash, said Blair and Campbell were -- in the Sun's words -- "completely cleared of criticism". No such fate for the chairman of the BBC Greg Dyke and chairman of the BBC governors Gavyn Davies, both of whom resigned, as Blair, Campbell and your newspapers took the opportunity to savage the BBC for broadcasting the "sexed up" claim. When you spoke to Tony Blair on 29 January, were you both gloating over a spin job well done through the leaking of the Hutton report to the Sun, arranged we must assume between Alistair Campbell and Rebekah Wade (now Brooks), who was then editor of the paper?
  9. You are renowned for putting the interests and the profits of your media empire above all other considerations. What payoff did News International get from Tony Blair for the unqualified support it gave for his illegal war in Iraq?
  10. Over one million people were killed in Iraq. Another four million were made refugees by the war. The country's infrastructure was so devastated that even today, electricity is rationed for many Iraqis, many still do not have access to clean drinking water or a functioning sewage system, and the health service, which was once the most advanced in the region, now struggles to provide a decent level of care. I79 British soldiers were killed and hundreds more suffered life changing injuries. As a direct result of the war, Britain suffered terrorist atrocities on 7 July 2005, in which 52 people were killed. Does your conscience ever regret the key part that you and your newspapers played in promoting an illegal war which has brought such death and destruction to the Iraqi people, unbearable bereavement to the families of British soldiers sent to kill and be killed for a lie, and increased insecurity from the threat of terrorist attack to the people of Britain?

Why does the government insist on borrowing money from outside banks when Article 1, Section 8 of the constitution allows the government to simply print its own money?

Why aren’t banks lending to local businesses?  The Fed’s decision to pay interest on $1.6 trillion in “excess” reserves is a chief suspect.

Where did all the jobs go?  Small and medium-sized businesses are the major source of new job creation, and they are not hiring.  Startup businesses, which contribute a fifth of the nation’s new jobs, often can’t even get off the ground. Why?

In a June 30 article in the Wall Street Journal titled “Smaller Businesses Seeking Loans Still Come Up Empty,” Emily Maltby reported that business owners rank access to capital as the most important issue facing them today; and only 17% of smaller businesses said they were able to land needed bank financing.  Businesses have to pay for workers and materials before they can get paid for the products they produce, and for that they need bank credit; but they are reporting that their credit lines are being cut.  They are being pushed instead into credit card accounts that average 16 percent interest, more than double the rate of the average business loan.  It is one of many changes in banking trends that have been very lucrative for Wall Street banks but are killing local businesses.

Why banks aren’t lending is a matter of debate, but the Fed’s decision to pay interest on bank reserves is high on the list of suspects.  Bruce Bartlett, writing in the Fiscal Times in July 2010, observed:

Economists are divided on why banks are not lending, but increasingly are focusing on a Fed policy of paying interest on reserves — a policy that began, interestingly enough, on October 9, 2008, at almost exactly the moment when the financial crisis became acute. . .

Historically, the Fed paid banks nothing on required reserves. This was like a tax equivalent to the interest rate banks could have earned if they had been allowed to lend such funds. But in 2006, the Fed requested permission to pay interest on reserves because it believes that it would help control the money supply should inflation reappear.

. . . [M]any economists believe that the Fed has unwittingly encouraged banks to sit on their cash and not lend it by paying interest on reserves.

At one time, banks collected deposits from their own customers and stored them for their own liquidity needs, using them to back loans and clear outgoing checks.  But today banks typically borrow (or “buy”) liquidity, either from other banks, from the money market, or from the commercial paper market.  The Fed’s payment of interest on reserves competes with all of these markets for ready-access short-term funds, creating a shortage of the liquidity that banks need to make loans.

By inhibiting interbank lending, the Fed appears to be creating a silent “liquidity squeeze” -- the same sort of thing that brought on the banking crisis of September 2008.  According to Jeff Hummel, associate professor of economics at San Jose State University, it could happen again.  He warns that paying interest on reserves “may eventually rank with the Fed's doubling of reserve requirements in the 1930s and bringing on the recession of 1937 within the midst of the Great Depression.”

The Travesty of the $1.6 Trillion in “Excess Reserves”

The bank bailout and the Federal Reserve’s two “quantitative easing” programs were supposedly intended to keep credit flowing to the local economy; but despite trillions of dollars thrown at Wall Street banks, these programs have succeeded only in producing mountains of “excess reserves” that are now sitting idle in Federal Reserve bank accounts.  A stunning $1.6 trillion in excess reserves have accumulated since the collapse of Lehman Brothers on September 15, 2008.

The justification for TARP -- the Trouble Asset Relief Program that subsidized the nation’s largest banks -- was that it was necessary to unfreeze credit markets.  The contention was that banks were refusing to lend to each other, cutting them off from the liquidity that was essential to the lending business.  But an MIT study reported in September 2010 showed that immediately after the Lehman collapse, the interbank lending markets were actually working.  They froze, not when Lehman died, but when the Fed started paying interest on excess reserves in October 2008.  According to the study, as summarized in The Daily Bail:

. . . [T]he NY Fed's own data show that interbank lending during the period from September to November did not "freeze," collapse, melt down or anything else.  In fact, every single day throughout this period, hundreds of billions were borrowed and paid back.  The decline in daily interbank lending came only when the Fed ballooned its balance sheet and started paying interest on excess reserves.

On October 9, 2008, the Fed began paying interest, not just on required bank reserves (amounting to 10% of deposits for larger banks), but on “excess” reserves.  Reserve balances immediately shot up, and they have been going up almost vertically ever since.

By March 2011, interbank loans outstanding were only one-third their level in May 2008, before the banking crisis hit. And on June 29, 2011, the Fed reported excess reserves of nearly $1.57 trillion – 20 times what the banks needed to satisfy their reserve requirements.

Why Pay Interest on Reserves?

Why the Fed decided to pay interest on reserves is a complicated question, but it was evidently a desperate attempt to keep control of “monetary policy.”  The Fed theoretically controls the money supply by controlling the Fed funds rate. This hasn’t worked very well in practice, but neither has anything else, and the Fed is apparently determined to hang onto this last arrow in its regulatory quiver.

In an effort to salvage a comatose credit market after the Lehman collapse, the Fed set the target rate for Fed funds – the funds that banks borrow from each other -- at an extremely low 0.25%.  Paying interest on reserves at that rate was intended to ensure that the Fed funds rate did not fall below the target.  The reasoning was that banks would not lend their reserves to other banks for less, since they could get a guaranteed 0.25% from the Fed.  The medicine worked, but it had the adverse side effect of killing the Fed funds market, on which local lenders rely for their liquidity needs.

It has been argued that banks do not need to get funds from each other, since they are now awash in reserves; but these reserves are not equally distributed.  The 25 largest U.S. banks account for over half of aggregate reserves, with 21% of reserves held by just 3 banks; and the largest banks have cut back on small business lending by over 50%. Large Wall Street banks have more lucrative things to do with the very cheap credit made available by the Fed that to lend it to businesses and consumers, which has become a risky and expensive business with the imposition of higher capital requirements and tighter regulations.

In any case, as noted in an earlier article, the excess reserves from the QE2 funds have accumulated in foreign rather than domestic banks.  John Mason, Professor of Finance at Penn State University and a former senior economist at the Federal Reserve, wrote in a June 27 blog that despite QE2:

Cash assets at the smaller [U.S.] banks remained relatively flat . . . . Thus, the reserves the Fed was pumping into the banking system were not going into the smaller banks. . . .

[B]usiness loans continue to “tank” at the smaller banking institutions.

Local Business Lending Depends on Ready Access to Liquidity

Without access to the interbank lending market, local banks are reluctant to extend business credit lines.  The reason was explained by economist Ronald McKinnon in a Wall Street Journal article in May:

Banks with good retail lending opportunities typically lend by opening credit lines to nonbank customers. But these credit lines are open-ended in the sense that the commercial borrower can choose when—and by how much—he will actually draw on his credit line. This creates uncertainty for the bank in not knowing what its future cash positions will be. An illiquid bank could be in trouble if its customers simultaneously decided to draw down their credit lines.

If the retail bank has easy access to the wholesale interbank market, its liquidity is much improved. To cover unexpected liquidity shortfalls, it can borrow from banks with excess reserves with little or no credit checks. But if the prevailing interbank lending rate is close to zero (as it is now), then large banks with surplus reserves become loath to part with them for a derisory yield. And smaller banks, which collectively are the biggest lenders to SMEs [small and medium-sized enterprises], cannot easily bid for funds at an interest rate significantly above the prevailing interbank rate without inadvertently signaling that they might be in trouble. Indeed, counterparty risk in smaller banks remains substantial as almost 50 have failed so far this year.

The local banks could turn to the Fed’s discount window for loans, but that too could signal that the banks were in trouble; and for weak banks, the Fed’s discount window may be closed.  Further, the discount rate is triple the Fed funds rate.

As Warren Mosler, author of The 7 Deadly Innocent Frauds of Economic Policy, points out, bank regulators have made matters worse by setting limits on the amount of “wholesale” funding small banks can do.  That means they are limited in the amount of liquidity they can buy (e.g. in the form of CDs).  A certain percentage of a bank’s deposits must be “retail” deposits – the deposits of their own customers.  This forces small banks to compete in a tight market for depositors, driving up their cost of funds and making local lending unprofitable.  Mosler maintains that the Fed could fix this problem by (a) lending Fed funds as needed to all member banks at the Fed funds rate, and (b) dropping the requirement that a percentage of bank funding be retail deposits.

Finding Alternatives to a Failed Banking Model

Paying interest on reserves was intended to prevent “inflation,” but it is having the opposite effect, contracting the money and credit that are the lifeblood of a functioning economy.  The whole economic model is wrong.  The fear of price inflation has prevented governments from using their sovereign power to create money and credit to serve the needs of their national economies.  Instead, they must cater to the interests of a private banking industry that profits from its monopoly power over those essential economic tools.

Whether by accident or design, federal policymakers still have not got it right.  While we are waiting for them to figure it out, states can nurture and protect their own local economies with publicly-owned banks, on the model of the Bank of North Dakota (BND).  Currently the nation’s only state-owned bank, the BND services the liquidity needs of local banks and keeps credit flowing in the state.  Other benefits to the local economy are detailed in a Demos report by Jason Judd and Heather McGhee titled “Banking on America: How Main Street Partnership Banks Can Improve Local Economies.” They write:

Alone among states, North Dakota had the wherewithal to keep credit moving to small businesses when they needed it most. BND’s business lending actually grew from 2007 to 2009 (the tightest months of the credit crisis) by 35 percent. . . . [L]oan amounts per capita for small banks in North Dakota are fully 175% higher than the U.S. average in the last five years, and its banks have stronger loan-to-asset ratios than comparable states like Wyoming, South Dakota and Montana.

Fourteen states have now initiated bills to establish state-owned banks or to study their feasibility.  Besides serving local lending needs, state-owned banks can provide cash-strapped states with new revenues, obviating the need to raise taxes, slash services or sell off public assets.
